| Choose from your favorite monsters from the movie! |
| Use your stylus to control the monster. |
You'll get to choose among your favorite monsters from the movie as you use each of their distinct skills to battle alien robots and save the world. Each monster gives a different game play experience, and figuring out who to use for specific parts of the game is part of the challenge and fun.
The Missing Link, the half-fish and half-ape monster, can scale walls and do acrobatics. He possesses the brute force to beat up most enemies by bashing and using his tail as a whip. B.O.B. is gelatinous and can stretch and bounce, stick to walls, and swallow and spit out enemies and objects. B.O.B. can get to hard-to-reach places by seeping through grates and cracks. Insectosaurus is 350-feet tall, shoots silk, and has a sonic scream, making her indispensable for fighting giant robots. Ginormica is enormous, can race through cities using cars for roller skates, and can fight entire armies. Dr. Cockroach, PhD provides missions and has a slew of gadgets used to fight the aliens.
Explore Locations in the Movie and More
Locations from the movie have been recreated in the game, which also features game-exclusive areas. You'll be able to explore nooks and crannies throughout the environment, and you'll have a blast escaping from a secret monster prison, wreaking havoc while doing battle inside a giant robot, bringing down Gallaxhar's spaceship, and more.
Unique Nintendo DS game play
The Nintendo DS version of the game has unique elements made possible by the touch screen. You'll rampage through the city as Insectosaurus and hack into alien technology as Dr Cockroach, PhD, all while using the stylus and touchscreen to control your monster.
I Am Not Smarter Than A 2nd Grader
My second grader was rolling along just fine with Monsters v Aliens for the DS...quite enjoying it actually. That is until he got to the level where there is a progression of puzzles where you (Dr. Cockroach) need to reflect a cannon shot fired into a grid to bounce off various reflector points in the grid, and the shot must pass through a number of green dots in the grid without running into an obstacle or running through a red dot.
Well the game is rated E, but my 8 year old had a very hard time with this level of puzzles. So he came to his brilliant Dad for some help. After relatively easily getting through the first few puzzles in the progression, I got to like the 4th or 5th puzzle in the progression (the puzzle where you can use a T to split the shot in two). And after (too) much time, I found this particular puzzle in the level to be unsolvable....That is until I was contacted by someone who read my review here at Amazon and politely pointed me to a mistake that I was making in my attempt to solve the puzzle.
I guess that I am not smarter than a second grader.
While my mistake was a silly one, this level is still challenging for a second grader. But with a little help perhaps from an adult (one that's smarter than me...shouldn't be too hard)--or older brother or sister--getting through the game shouldn't be too difficult. In fact, my son is back to having a lot of fun with Monsters v Aliens for the DS now that we've navigated our way through Dr. Cockroach's puzzles.
My kids have proclaimed the Monsters v Aliens movie to be the best animated film that they've ever seen. Nice to see that they're having a lot of fun with a game adaptation of a movie...cuz we all now how that goes most of the time.
This is the worst game EVER - DO NOT BUY IT!!!
My 6 yr old son just got a DS for his birthday and we rented monsters vs aliens to try it out - we can't even get past the first few minutes!!! It's impossible if you are a normal human! This game [...] BIG TIME.
