Attack, my furry minions!!!
Eco Creatures is a RTS that is, a real-time strategy. For those that don't know what that means: If you stand still time passes, just like life. Now that we have that down you play as a large furry... well, lets just say yeti, who lives in a forest full of cute furry critters. So, when a nearby kingdom begins bulldozing and polluting your home what do you do? Why attack with hoards of bright pink squirrels of course!
You move around with the D-pad, nearly everything else you control with the stylus. There are three basic types of creatures you can control, each with their own abilities. You level them up with crystals that you gain through beating scenarios. So, start of a level you get goals, a map and losing conditions. Most of the time the goal is destroying particular targets, the map varies, and to lose you get your tree-house destroyed. Every now and then you get a boss.
Those are the basics, and I know it sounds bad when I tell you "It's fun as heck!". Yeah, you heard right. The control scheme works, though things will get in your way when you're trying to select something. The missions are repetitive but different enough to be interesting, and the bosses are everything from easy as pie to AAAGH! hard. The visual style of the game is cute and original, the music is repetitive but doesn't wear on your nerves. It's good.
I don't know why anyone hasn't picked this up, in fact if you like any type of strategy games, say Fire Emblem, then this is for you. I'd even go so far as to say that it's a great kids game, with little to no violence, suggestive themes, or crude humor. The bottom line is, that it's one of the better RTS I've played, and it's cheap. Do try this one out.
Fun to play.
This was a good fun game. Multiplayer was good, too. My son bounces around from game to game, but this one has remained in the mix, though not the most popular one, so solid 4 stars.
